Waterworld Dive Centre, situated in the Maharees on the Dingle Peninsula of Co. Kerry., described by National Geographic as one of “the most beautiful places on earth” – is just 30 metres from the water’s edge, at the best dive and surf location in Ireland. Waterworld is Ireland’s oldest family-run dive centre, with 60 years of experience, spanning three generations.

Ireland’s first 5 Star Gold Palm Instructor Development Centre and Ireland’s first National Geographic Dive Centre. We are proudly recognised Internationally for Outstanding Service, Education, Environment, Excellence and dedication to the dive community in Ireland.

OUR STORY

Just thirty metres from the water’s edge, located in County Kerry, on the beautiful Maharees Peninsula, along the magical West Coast of Ireland, is where you will find Waterworld Dive Centre.

Described by National Geographic as one of “the most beautiful places on earth” – facing out on to the Irish sea and the Maharees Islands, Waterworld is surrounded by stunning mountain ranges, tranquil coastline, and fields of green as far as the eye can see.

Born from a love of the ocean and built on 60 years of expertise and experience, here at Waterworld we are driven, every day, by our passion to introduce people of all ages, and walks of life to the joy and wonder that we, as divers, experience below the surface of our underwater world.

HISTORY

three generations

Founded by Ronnie and Pat Fitzgibbon, Ireland’s most qualified and experienced dive operators, in 1963, Waterworld Dive Centre is Ireland’s longest-operating, family-run dive centre, spanning three generations.

Sandra Fitzgibbon, Ronnie and Pat’s daughter and our beloved leader took the helm over the years, growing our renowned dive centre into the internationally renowned and award winning dive centre it is today, where Robyn Fitzgibbon, Sandra’s daughter and Ronnie’s granddaughter, through sheer hard work and a passed down passion for the Irish underwater world became a qualified Instructor in 2022, expanding her role here at Waterworld continuing on the Fitzgibbon family legacy. 

Waterworld was Ireland’s first PADI 5 Star Gold Palm Instructor Development Centre and Irelands’ first National Geographic Dive Centre; and this year, in 2023, we are proudly celebrating 60 years since Ronnie and Pat first started diving and where our story first began.

Harbour House never disappoints, all guests were catered for, the service was first class and natural. The advice and expertise re diving is amongst the best available.
