Powerboat

Power boating is one of the easiest ways to get on the water today. Maybe you just want to spend a sunny summer’s day out with the family and friends, skiing, fishing or just relaxing. Or perhaps you’re a commercial user who needs qualifications for work.

At Waterworld we provide a comprehensive range of the Irish Sailing Association powerboat courses for those certificates which are both nationally and internationally recognized and our own in house powerboat clinics for those of you that want to learn how to get your boat into and out of that tricky space in the marina and see how the professionals make it look so easy.

Phillip Fitzgibbon is the senior powerboat instructor in Waterworld. Phillips experience in powerboating is second to none. He over 30 years experience in powerboating and is the current holder of ROUND IRELAND POWERBOAT RECORD. So if you are looking the best you found him.

Castlegregory is a great place to conduct a your powerboat course with a Brandon bay, Tralee bay & Fenit marina to practice all you will learn, such as moorings, pontoons, slipways, commercial and leisure traffic, how to handle your boat in rough water, etc.

If you have a little experience, the National Powerboat Certificate (driving licence) will give you the basic skills. We will start your training in our robust 3.8 metre tenders powered by 25hp tiller engines and then progress up to a larger console controlled boat, This allows you to be certified for both tiller and console type boats.

If you are experienced and require the Certificate, a direct assessment is also available. When you have been certified with the above courses, you can automatically apply for your ICC International Certificate of Competence.
